  • Render Disappointment, please help

    Hi all,

this is my latest work. I am very unhappy with it's looks.
Any ideas how it could be improved to look nicer. I am trying to think, but got no idea so far. Any C&C will be appretiated.

    Regards

Think in real world terms, and up the level of detail in your model a lot for starters. How have you done the interiors and (what I can only assume is) glass up the side?

Would you be able to post up an original render with no photoshop done?

if you see the people and the flowers, humm... some scale problem here the flowers are too big (like a head).

some definition of whether its day or night would help. if its a night/dusk. take a look at some real photos to get quality of light. need more model detail, as the gangster has mentioned. tiled maps, and glass need sorting.

overall its the lack of direction with light and mood really. looks like a scanline render. hope this helps. p.s there are simple things you could fix in photoshop without re-rendering. like adding teture detail by hand, sorting the sky, some cc in places (well alot).

          Hi all,
thank you soooooooo much for the nice crits

          cubiclegangster,
original render I will post tomorrow, I did not do any interior, about glass I know, it looks quite bad. I made plane and bend it, applyed background picture, for the reflections. I am doing reserch to see how should I do it, but still no good reference

          priad,
I agree flowers are enormous, I was affraid that they will not be seen from the great distance, but as soon I photoshoped people, you can see immediatly that they are not proportionally done.

          unknown,
I am still looking for the good reference. Although it looks like scanline, I rendered in Vray.

Once again thanks to you all, and please keep it comming

This rendering is gone to client, but I would like for my sake to do it much better for the future projects.

          Regards
          Srdjan

i realise it was done in vray, so thats why i mentioned your scanline efect., but it looks like you have lots of non shadow casting lights that are bleaching away the light detail, did u use GI? if your in doubt, post the scene or your settings so we can pick over them and let you know where you can change things.

as for reflections. well they are best done in photoshop, especialyl in the case of tal buildings such as this.

Also move your camera down to normal eye level. That will help it not feel like a scale model as much.

                  Hello Tim,

                  Thanks for your input.

I have tryed to do that, the only problem was, if you want to show whole building, as my client wants, and at the same time you want to put camera down, to sort of man height (or woman ) you lose ground and fountaun water surface. To be honest with you, I also prefere that view

I am trying to found where I can upload my model, and if somebody like to try, you are welcome

                  Regards

why dont you try the vray physical sun & camera (see vrayelite.com for a tut)
develope the detail on the windows and wall panels etc.

Very curious what your render settings are, will have a look over your model in a bit and post some pointers.

I agree it is looking very flat and the lighting needs a bit of work.

PS this is my first post, nice to finally get on the forum.
