    Balls of feet

Good. Although I am active in the church and bought the MP3 for that reason I thought it to very applicable to the office as well. I am sure the statistics he quotes are outside of the church as well. Now get 275 people who are comfortable and standing still in a room with the 25 who like to move forward, knowing that the World caters to those who like to stand still, and feel my frustration. I see the go-getters drop off like flies around here. To make it worse I moved from a big city to a small town. I would say this area is 10 year behind in thinking. Not that it is bad. It is a good place to fish and grow old. Now on the flip side I see area architects just now producing images I did in Accurender 10 years so I do have a buffer in that.

I disagree, the world caters for go-getters. If you sit about on your loins waiting for something to happen, very rarely will you end up with what you want, but if you want more for yourself there is a whole world out there for the taking. Its a mind set.

        Tree house

I think very few in this forum will be someone who is on the heels of their feet otherwise you wouldn't be here. We all think everyone is like us and very few think they don't like change, but the majority does not like change.

Mind you half our architects here are still on the board and see no reason to change and here I am trying to implement Revit. How do you implement B.I.M. when they don't see the benefit of electronic drawings. I am sure larger cities see less of the laid back attitude, but smaller town are smaller town for a reason I guess.

It really stirs things up when someone comes in (me) asking you to change when all you are thinking about is fishing and hunting. Again when you are the big fish in the small pond why change? Until that bigger fish comes in and swallows you up!

Oh well... more advantage for me I guess. Since I work for the largest builder in the area (www.nor-son.com) people are seeing my images on construction signs and people are calling asking who does our images. They (our competitors I am sure) are told we have an in-house person (me). Do a search for "architectural renderings in Minnesota" (like they are) and you get me (www.whitebirchstudios.com) and I am getting calls all the time, but I have to say no to a lot since they are competitors and I am loyal to my employer. It wasn't planned, that isn't why I took this job, but it might allow me to finally go solo someday.

        Anyway back to work

                religious propaganda

It isn't religious propaganda and I apologize if I offended you. I think it is applicable to the conversation. I personally wouldn't listen to a religious recording that was labeled something other then Christian and I would respect the person who posted it and move on. Again, I do apologize if I offended you.

Thanks. The modeling is the easy part... not the textures and lighting. With v-ray 1.5 the lighting is pretty easy. I am finding out how important texture mapping is.

I really like the style of your images, nice work.

Regarding religion. I come from a religious family and am neutral on the whole thing (to each their own) but really do dislike pressure to go one way or another. I know you didn't intend this, but i think the topic kind of lead this way. You mention being progressive and wanting change but how can you be stuck in the past with religion and also be wanting progress...they seem to be almost opposites IMHO.

I also think that while your rendering work is great, much of the architecture and even your bosses house are solidly stuck in the past and have become a horrible hybrid of old and new, neither doing justice to the old work or being appealing as new architecture. Its like someone mentioned, prison elements have been cut and pasted onto this huge fortress giving it a monumental feel, yet the construction methods and materials completely contradict this. I'm not having a go at you personally, but i really don't think the projects you have rendered recently reflect progress...or don't commit to it enough. Maybe this is partly the point you were making? I guess i just dont like this style of 'architecture' and wanted to give my opinion, no offense intended!. The same things bug me about many american cars...they just seem to be laced with egotistical stuck on status symbols and blatent viagra enhanced appendages - its no longer a matter of being respected for being subtle expressing your wealth (eg most Dodge cars, which i think is fitting that your boss seems to like them when looking at his house)

Back onto the 3D work, i really like the 'dirty card look' and think this suits the style of building very well. Also, if you built this based on sketches i think you did an awesome job with the modelling.
