What is behind the camera? Maybe some sunlight could add something to this image? I think the blue is very overpowering and the colour of the chairs is clashing. The colour of the walls is dark. I think this scene is great and I dont think you need to do much technically, just aesthetically.

Behind the camera is glass... I tried working with light through the window, but I kind of gave up. The blue is their color, I guess you can say. The blue comes from the logo you see on the sign. I tried white walls, but it was to boring.

for the tiles id consider an even thinner grout line and reduce the displacement? depth further. carpet is looking good now IMO except for the colour seems a bit saturated.

The next step for me would be to crank up the AA quality and render it out bigger or at higher quality and raise the subdivisions on the metal glossies to remove the remaining artifacts (eg on the balustrade wires - they look grainy)

regarding the design...I cant help wondering what is at the end of the hall. Its like going to the cinema's!. The big wooden door at the end is a rollerdoor where the oldies can wheel on down the corridor in their golf buggies, pile onto the stair lift and get up to the upper deck where all the good stuff happens :P. I know, i've got a twisted way of looking at things.

I think its great that you have kept working on things even after the client is happy. Wish i had the motivation to do that

I thing I have about exhausted this one.... here is an update with the sun through the window.

you seem to have a lot less blotching in the image now and i think it looks much better with a bit of natural light. In this kind of interior i think it is perfectly acceptable to have both sunlight and artificial light.. Good work!

im late to the party but: i think that if you mix sunlight and artificial light, that you cannot get a realistic looking image if you don't respect the fact that the sun is a billion times brighter.

if you look at your image, the sunlight hitting the wall, does not light the wall as much as the 100w bulb does... this is basically wrong, and probably the reason why you image does not look 'real'.

of course making a correctly exposed image with sun light and artificial light involved, is... very very hard. I find it best to either have the vray sun very low (ie dusk) and interior lights.

or turn off interior lights and light the scene naturally from windows. However in this scene your stuck between a rock and a hard place, due to there being no natural light down the back. This scene probably calls for some... faking - with fill lights. (i know! evil!) :P

the image could go another step brighter again overall imo, but you'd want to do that within vray properly and dull the globes relative to the sun.

To be honest, I don't mind the dull sunlight. My first thought when I saw it was that the glass was tinted...and in a commercial building, it probably would be?

theres a purist aproach where everything must look real and rules must be followed, but these rules dont apply to such large interior spaces IMHO.

In reality the interior lighting (or maybe just the lighting down the back) would be turned on during the day otherwise it is going to look like a dungeon. It looks much more realistic to me having the sun in there as well and it also gives an indication that you are near the entrance instead of in the middle of a huge fortress.

Lastly I would say that images for marketing purposes for clients may require bending of rules. They dont care about what is correct as much as they do about having a marketable image that is bright and appealing. I think this is where having a strict approach to things like lighting can get you into trouble. If it looks too dark and gloomy then I think you need additional lighting even if it is going against everything you believe in :P

The sun will actually never shine on those stairs. I had to move the sun around manually until I got something. This is were that render preview would b so nice.
