Hmm, I think your original point of view was good enough. I can understand that you want to keep everything, but the crop that an average 1600x1200 display has on the highres render in a browser (left part is visible) is just amazing. Less is more. cliche, I know.

Anyway, if you do keep everything, group them into more separated groups, use more distance between the two grops, and try to align the cylinderical shapes. Separate the jar pot mug trio with a tighter dof. Your second image is far better considering grouping and vertical alignment. The wires on the wall no longer distract the eye, and the viewer is directed at a clear focus. The background however can't keep balance, and the whole thing falls over. You've put the spectator on a sinking ship, quite dramatic, but imo not the most suitable for a still like this.

Just my two cents. I still think that this image rocks.

Heres the final, final version..well, pretty much. Im still deciding on my favourite point of view, but as far as lighting and texturing goes thats all
done now.

Cropped in a bit on the image also.

I think the jam in the jam jar looks better now. I also wanted to create that crisp morning light streaming in from a single window in the kitchen. I think it creates a more morning feel now, rather than the overhead lights.

Tweaked a few other textures.

the best one IMHO, but i´m still a little disturbed, now by the empty background. i made a test cropping the right side just after the end of the cup and got very happy with. but you´re the one who has to be happy with, of course. anyway very beautiful image.

P.S.:how long to render?

I find it very hard to get an image just right..i guess I have to draw the line somewhere...the point where Im happy with it without taking forever to finish the project.

The render took about 30 mins I think full res, using 12 cores. Added dof with photoshop and lenscare.
