i think you could use a little swell on the ocean, long rolling swell, on top of the existing texture.
and i think the other close up shots are just a little too pushed contrast wise. it is a good effect but just taken a bit too far.WerT

Hi, for the sea you might use the ocean-plugin by charles hollemeersch:
http://charles.hollemeersch.net/
should be more realistic

is it me, or the plugin is a proof of concept only?
How is a square plane with fixed size going to cover a camera view which isn't top-down?
Damn nice waves, allright, but I can't see that cutting it...Lele

Thanks for the comments again
I think it's very difficult to get a good looking ocean.
I have tested the ocean-plugin by charles hollemeersch, looks nice for a very small area but else too much tiling
A photo of the real ship! Still missing a lot of detail, especially on the hull
Anyone know something abot this plugin by Franticfilms?

As far as I know Flood it's an internal tool to Frantic Films.
Bobo was saying a while back on the Frantic forums that it still requires lots of inputs from their RnD guys to have it perform at its best, so it's not quite ready for public release.
You can, however, check out the oceans in Superman Returns to see it in action.
Jonathan Reynolds may be able to shed more light on it.
Me, I signed a fresh NDA with them and I'd better not comment further just yet
Edit: there you go, they now have a pricing calculator on their site: it just shows how reliable a source I amLele

The closeups look very well balanced. Add a few more little details and give that to a good comper, I think most would say they are photos. The wide shot is a bit saturated, could use some medium frequency detail and some edge wrap on the ship. I'm not usually the one to render final water passes here but from observation it seems kinda like the horizon should not only be fogged a bit but also darkened right near the sky with a tight-ish falloff.
There is a component of Flood called Surf that I believe is in the stage of public beta testing. We have used it for a few years now internally and I think the latest version is quite artist friendly. I wish I had more info for you but allot goes on here without me being able to keep tabs on it. I would suggest joining the forum and trying to get on with the next wave of testing.
Best regards,

i've have been testing flood surf a bit. the beta ended in december i think. the waves look great, and you can make good foam on the crests too, but there are no way to interact the ocean with objects yet. but they are still developing it, and i have put it in their wishlist.

Very nice indeed! The only thing that stands out for me is the static water.
