  • Bar scene

I was working on a liquor/beer model set not too long ago and I've been wanting to put together a bar scene. This set is from a country club project we worked on. I made modifications from the original scene mainly because its closer up and from a different angle then the original. Feel free to comment and leave some feedback.

The bar top had the sides cut up in segments(like a grid) then added a noise to it. I had to clean up the top surface seeing how faces were pushing over some of the edges.(had to do some face turning.)All in all, pretty easy.

A good quality render, but to me, it lacks ambience. I wouldn't want to drink in a bar like that - it needs moodier, more drammatic lighting in my opinion. However, I understand that your client probably wants to see 'every' detail, which generally means omitting ambience.

tricky-I was working on a different lighting setup and I agree its not very moody. I'm trying a darker scene with the bar being the most lit area.(that and the drinks) I think this render does a little better job.

yes, that's a lot more appealing to have a drink there.
though, I don't think any bartender will have all the bottles so nicely rotated with the label at front, unless he/she was really bored

It's pretty good - not a bad image at all, but I think the saturation is just making it look a bit too uniform and a bit of selective colour balancing of your textures could really help it out.
It's a good scene to do a few well-composed detail shots within too.

I dont normally do this, so apologies if you find it obtrusive - but i'm waiting for a render so I had a quick 5min go over in photoshop to see what it's be like with some postwork.

It's just a 50% desaturate on the upper right and back wall, a brightness/contrast to get some life back into it, some levels to bring up the midtones, a vignette, slight glow and chromattic abbrattion.

cubiclegangster-I like that, a little too desaturated for my tastes but I like the glow from the tv. I'm working on some adjustments currently and I'm trying to get some glow from the tv(along with other things) I think the glow from the tv needs more color. I hope to have an update soon. Thanks for the feedback.

Here is an updated render. Trying to add some glow and adjusting the lighting some more as well. Thanks for all the comments.

I would vary the light color a bit for the overall ambiance. White is so sterile. I really like the post update by the way.

The random bottles make it look so much better. TV's a little too bright for my tastes. Other than that, I like it.
