This forum is short on teapots. Just for fun in some freetime. Nothing too serious. Minimal post, mainly just raw render.

    Best regards,

Very nicely done - would love to know a bit about your apple shader. Also, browning at the edges would be great!

Wow, thank you very much for this much of positive feedback! Although generally it's not good to live for appreciation, it do feels very very good that I was able to come up with something that so many of you like.

All the study I made was cutting up, and eating a similar apple, and found that it never even begun to get brown during the whole process, but that might just add a little to the whole picture. And adding some brown to the edges isn't so hard to do either.

Geometrically the scene is very basic. The whole teapot thing is just a boolean (with a custom built teapot), so the mesh is darn dirty, but thankfully, that doesn't affected the shading. There are two main shader layers, one for the skin, and one for the flesh. The skin is fully mapped from photos of the consumed apple, and has sss. The flesh is almost fully procedural with four layers and a very basic color variation map, and has sss too. So, basically, it's quite easy to cut out any shape, as long as it's not intersecting the core, and the seeds, cause that would definitely require some additional modeling and texturing. The VRay logo would look nice there.

                            Best regards,
                            A.
