  • GI artifacts

    hello,
i seem to run into this problem when animating any type of vehicle. i keep getting what appears to be an "oil slick" that trails the vehicles in my scenes.

i've attached a few frames from an animation. it starts off fine buts at it goes on the artifacts get worse. i thought it had to do with how the jet interacts with the ground but i even moved it slightly off the ground and the issue remains. i set the jet to not generate GI but that didnt help either. it appears to be coming from the jet wheels and not the aircraft tug wheels. any ideas?

    thanks,
    -joe

      hi vlado,
here they are. should i set the IRmode to single frame maybe? higher GI settings weren't working.
      thanks

You cannot use the multiframe incremental mode for animations with moving obects; you have to use either single frame, or the "Animation (prepass)"/"Animation (rendering)" modes.

Your basically seeing the shadow for every frame being burnt into the irr map, As vlado has said you need to calc every frame separately for moving objects.

as vlado said you can calculate irmap every frame or use the new animation prepass mode (animation prepass is very similar to single frame except it use info from multiple save irmaps to get a cleaner solution)

you could also use a brute force method
typically brute force for your primary bounce and lightcache for your secondary bounce
Check out the tutorials section and look at vray universal settings that vlado posted
