Grassy area - scatter test

  • yeah, mapping the grass it's a real pain. I can't seem to be doing it the right way, still working on it though.

    reflections are definitely too strong and sharp, subpixel mapping should help. thought about it and then forgot to turn it on. and the material still needs tweaking.

        Vrayscatter, took 3.5 hours. Already did some adjustments so it will render faster.

                • These look really nice! now if someone manages to properly apply this to an architectural exterior rendering. Right now we're mainly seeing close-ups and camera angles that center around grass.. what happens when the camera is 1,7m in the air and not pointing towards the grass but shooting over it towards a building say 30 meters away? my tests so far fail to please the eye in such scenario.. sure it's better than displaced grass but way harder to get right than close-ups imo.

                  *EDIT* This is the best I've come up with so far.. it's a small strip out of a bigger render and the random rotation need a bit tweaking as there are still some obvious patterns

                    • Material Id for distributing scatter?

                      I tried to search through the forums but couldn't get any answer, it seems abit weird to me that there is no option in vray scatter to use the material id's on a given distribution object to scatter.

                      Is this option going to be implemented on future versions?
