  • Tower in Zaabeel park (Dubai) - Competition

Here are some images I made a few monthes ago for an international competition. The tower's skin is composed of hundreds of "wings" made of special fabric that collects dew. These wings stay closed during the day to provide shade and head protection and at night they open, like a blooming flower, to collect dew.

surprised by the winner... original yes, but buildable ? If memory serves me well the entries had to have some form of structural analysis that proved its viability.

Well, it was not asked to provide a structural analysis, but it was stated that the winning project might eventually be built. I thought they were serious lol. That eventually diverted me from taking a purely conceptual approach. But that was apparently what the jury was after : projects with very strong image and symbolical emphasis.
