  • First almost clean VolumeCaustics

    Hi

Now when I'm not so busy, I continued to test new Vray features.

This took 4.2 hours to render.
(render settings could be too high, but I wanted to get clean results)
I had to boost caustic subdivisions for spotlight to 14000 and it's not enough.
There is till some soft large noise.

Anyone else had luck with Volume caustics?
Any tips to make it faster, more detailed?

Rendertime 4,2 hours on what kind of system? With DR?

    Cheers, Dirk

        What were your caustic settings?

        Best regards,

          Caustic settings:

          Multiplier: 1
          Search dist: 0.7 cm
Max photons: 0 - so it uses all available photons
          Max density: 0.3 cm

          Spotlight: caustic subdivisions: 14000

Env fog subdivision: 256 - might be way too much, but normally that isn't
          slowing rendering so much.

You can try to use non-zero "Max. photons", and somewhat larger search radius, it may help to clean the low-frequency noise.
