      This is spectacular, but, boy, the road really is in a poor state. Can't be too comfortable riding at that speed on such a patched-up mess.

      That's no comment on the work, though, which is amazing (apart from slightly obvious tiling on the road texture, which is only visible on the stills)!

              can you give some info on the surroundings? what was used for trees, grass etc?

                Nothing fancy for the enviro - that is to say, no plugins used. Everything is poly-built with instanced, low-poly modeling and high-resolution photo texture maps. Some camera mapping in first shot + 3D elements. Trees are textures on planes. Foreground bushes, trees etc, are low-poly models.

                Like the first spot, only 3 weeks for total completion from start to finish.

                Jonas: Yes, we tried drivers in both spots this time so that we could have semi-tinted glass instead of the usual (less realistic) fully opaque. Certainly makes it more interesting...

                  Fantastic, like the first one.

                  You do mention baking for the tunnel shot, any particular plugin, any particular workflow?

                          I like it!, i would have avoided that shallow depth of field, it makes the film look like shot with miniatures, but that maby was the concept?

                            ? for you

                            Awesome as usual.

                            I just watched your video playback and it was butter smooth.

                            I was hoping you could tell me which program you used to encode the compressed 720P download .mov file you made?

                            Thanks

                              Hi batu;

                              I use either Quicktime or Sorenson Squeeze. H264 codec and an appropriate bitrate that changes according to what rez it is. I can't recall the bitrates off the top of my head but you can check by seeing the Quicktime image properties.

                              As usual, the biggest problem with Quicktime and more specifically h264, is the gamma shift that significantly washes out your picture. I find it hard to believe that this problem has been around for probably half a decade now and Apple still hasn't fixed it. Which is why I pretty much consider Quicktime virtually useless. (Google 'gamma shift' and be prepared for millions of frustrated postings).

                              I understand Apple Cleaner can do a relatively decent job but it's an Apple app only. I've also ready that x264 does a much better job than Quicktime does at retaining original colors. There's also a million 'fixes' to the gamma shift, most of which I've tried, and most of which don't work - especially on a PC.

                              I'm a step away from abandoning Quicktime altogether and switching to Flash as the compression retains color much better.
