    • There aren't any plant libraries yet, they've already said it will be a few more months before that part is ready.

      • Is there anything new to report here yet?

I guess I'll ask a question about the product while I wait. Will we be able to save our plant configurations and openly share those configurations with other licensed MDO owners?

        • Hello,

I was wondering if its possible to have a tree grow with wacoplants. If you have any information and movies on the subject it would be appreciated since we are gonna need this feature for a project soon.

Hope you can help since the movie on your site now is only wind animation.

          With kind regards,

          Niels

its still gonna take quite a while....if you have a project coming, i would suggest not relying on this
....look what "3rd and 7th" have managed to do with ONYX system.....although lots of users here tend to say its old and kind of hard to work with , i really think it still does an excelent job provided you play with the materials and the object topology well enough.
I only wish the ONYX guys gave there their SW a facelift and added some new features...would make a great piece of SW

Peter Guthrie does a great job working with ONYX as well!

everytime i see an addition to this thread, i hope things got moving, unfortunatelly its always just another addition from someone whos desperate by the lack of quality 3D foliage stuff available on the market. Its strange as i really think that whoever brings an "up to date" solution for 3D foliage creation, will generate really interesting profits....

Yes, you can save your modifications and load them again.

No, growing plants and trees is not possible. That's a very specific task and requires a different approach. We focus on plants and trees right out of the box with enough edit options to adjust your vegetation. Simple to use, interesting edit options, not much work and always good results.

              • Since it is the "Image uploads" subforum, lets move our discussion about MDO plugins to the Emecstudios forums, forums.emecstudios.com.

                Thank you,
                Davy

i dont know if i can find a right word for this in english but some of the stuff looks a bit "stiff"......havent tried the package so i cant say anything wrong about it though...i dont also want to offend anyone who likes working with it...its all question of choice and taste.

i really admire people who can create their own foliage or who can write such programs...including yours of course...

...i would not mind myself spending thousands on great quality foliage that looks real (out of the box) as in the tight pipeline one doesnt have enough time to get into a software and create his/her own.

if you look at the Grow FX libraries here for example:

                  http://rendering.ru/index.php/plugin...nts_1__bushes/

i am just curious how many trees you would actually use from the whole pack? looking at the models...i would have a hard time picking 50% to be really usable....some trees look perfect, but some should not even be there for the quality sake...

maybe i am too demanding, but as i said, i would not mind spending a lot on something which looks natural and doesnt require additional work.

I really hope you will achieve what i dream of !
Fingers crossed with bringing it to the final stage, i will happily buy it once its finished.

                  Best Regards
                  Martin

                    • instinct if you look in the plug ins section of the site you will see that they develope grow fxs, so they more than likely use it to make the trees

                      • They don't develop it but they resell it for exlevel. I do think they used GrowFX for their tree library but not totally sure. GFX is very powerful and can do amazing stuff (although their own site doesn't really show it's best IMO). The only real downside IMO is that it is complex and many important effects are far from intuitive to setup. It would really benefit from a massive UI overhaul, but who will pay for it these days?

                        • Out of all the 3d veg I have, I use the mentor ones the most frequently, but onyx is used almost as frequently, too.

We have some of these libraries too, and they are good.

Yes, that's what I meant. They have also sent me links for total updates (including some added new models) 2X since my original purchase, at no cost.
This was for the 2 series of trees, and the service is quite good. It was only about 1-3 USD per tree...IIR
