    what are your settings?

I like the chairs. A little too much transleucency. Floor a little to glossy too.

      my settings

      my settings

irradiance map - subdiv 50 interp. samp. 20
      direct computation - 10 , 1
      environment - multiplier 8
      color mapping - 4 , 1

i reduced the reflections in the floor and the skylight spinner to 4 , the results are slightly better - but there are too many dark areas & the environment map is washed out. can u help me out here? thanks

do you have affect shadows turned on for yourglass. its strange people keep saying they have problems with GI going through glass. All i do for my glass is make it black diffuse. aaaallllmost white for refraction, white on reflection with falloff and turn on affect shadows. voila. thats what i do for windows

Yeah but for GI through the glass, affect shadows is not enough. Affect shadows is only for direct light coming through.

Turn on refractive GI caustics in irradiance settings to get more GI light through the windows.

Best is to render with glass hidden, then save the map and rerender with that map with windows back on.

            regards

You might want to also include a directional light for the sun? If the sun isn't on that side of the building then you may want some interior lighting to help.

It's hard to tell what is going on with the back of that chair. Looks almost as if it's a translucent plastic...

or is that a directional light falling on it?

Don't know if it helps but I use VRay light just outside the window.

I must be missing something here, but I wonder why don't you hide the windows, render the image with adaptive AA set to -4,-4, then save the IMap, unhide the windows, and reuse the saved IMap for raytracing (with higher AA rates of course)?

Unless you're using basic or free versions this should work fine and should be faster.

                      Regards,
