  • WIP interior - surrounding for Ecovasc commercial

    Hello all,

Long time no post as usual...flooded with work and employed with my wedding preparations )))

Attached are images of interior which will serve as a surrounding for making shots for ECOVACS (robo vacuum cleaner) printing and TV campaign.

    Interior is in WIP stage.

2 things that i really miss in vray for this project are:
    * not aliased Z buffer pass - as you can see there are errors in the DOF done in post in DOF PRO
    * possibility for the dome light to show alpha channel

Anyway, C&Cs are very welcome, especially in this stage )

    Thank you

    Best Regards
    Martin

In the first image, the DOF seems odd to me; i'm not sure that a result like that in the real world is physically possible, given the amount of the image you have in focus, the background probably wouldn't be as blurred as you have it - just seems unnaturual! That's the main thing that sticks out to me.

i know, i have changed the Z buffers gamma quite heavily.....the images dont have to be physically correct, but i can understand that some people can feel its weird

anyway, what bugs me more is that the alliassed Z buffer has caused loads of artefacts not only on the opacit ymapped leaves outside, bud also on some objects right in front of the window glass panes.

          Hi,

          Nice job!

I have the same problem with the dome light (HDRI setup)
Is it possible to use the dome light with HDRI without to see it in the alpha channel?

          Thanks.

Great Job, I love the lighting..they have a great natural feel to them. HDRI with Vray Sun ? lwf ? on 2.2. What Color Mapping ? Any insight would be great im working on my first Interior in a while today. =P seems like ive been spending all my time on exterior lighting lately.

What was rendering time for the first one ? If you dont mind.

                  hello Ruben,
its only lit by one of these HDRIs
                  http://3docean.net/user/paguthrie/po...?ref=paguthrie
LWF, gamma applied in post, DOF and Chromatic aberation done by DOF PRO from Richard Rosenmann, Color filters and tints done usin NIK Color Effects.
Rendering settins are pretty normal, nothing unusual
Rendertime around 12 hrs on 3.6Ghz i7 quadcore, 12GB RAM...in some places the settings will probably have to be raised for certain materials
                  Hope this helps.

Nice. Thanks. seems like my same Exterior Settings so lets see how it goes. =P Sometimes it seems like i cant get enough light inside, however I also purchased guthries HDRI's which seem to be lighting my Exterior far better. Lets see how interiors goes.

                      Nice renders! Nice feel.
When i looked at first image i thought it looked like a small/miniature model, but couldn't work out why. I was thinking the furniture scales were a bit off, but reading on and taking a look again the DOF gives that effect. It gives a nice feel, and works well for close-ups.

What do you mean exactly ? You can have both anti-aliased (referred to as "filtered") or non-anti-aliased renderelements depending on the "Enable Filtering" checkbox of
the renderelement. Mind you that anti-aliased (not aliased?) ZDepth doesnt really make sense usually as the filtering is not blending pixels but moving points in space.

                          Kind Regards,
                          Thorsten

shit... how could i miss that?...thanks Thorsten!!

been already in touch with Richard Rosenmann over the artifacts which come out when using "non-anti-aliased" ZDepth map in various DOF processors and i am working on some improvements.

the lighthing overall is lit well..
but somehow I found the 1st visual abit odd. the sliding door the frame isn't it too thick and its make the leather chair look out of size. and the leather chair look like floating. I think Ambient Occlusion can make it better.
btw i love your wooden floor shader very nice. mind to share the setting for the material of the wooden floor hehe.

ooh ya..and the carpet!! very nice!! how to do that? displacements?

                              thanks !
