  • 3 hours into V-Ray results

    Hi All...

Well, 3 hours into V-Ray and I have some reasonable results.
The metal is coming along nicely, but I still can't seem to get a shine on the plastic.
Any comments or pointers would be appreciated.
Hopefully the images are here... I can's see them in the preview but I don't know if I should.
If not could I get some direction please...

    Ted

I couldn't see them in the thread, so I reposted. Themetals look amazing to me. I would say the ceramic (alunimum oxide) part of the spark plug could be more glossy. Same with the plastic parts of the second image.

For the plastics try making the gloss color a light-to-mid-grey, and turn down the two glossiness values to around 0.5.

I think default light is not a good choice. Maybe gi is better ?
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

          Thanks

          Thanks Garrett and Paul...

I will try your plastic settings and start experimenting with the GI.

the metal does look good, but it's still 'too perfect
.......real world metals(especially) on a spark plug is smattered with micro scratching and pitting on the surface that scatters the light. Somehow it needs toned down.

I'm no expert with the plastics as of yet, so no real helpful advice there.
