I dont know if Im re-hashing old ground but I downloaded the grass scene into the latest DEMO version of Vray. The problem I encounter is that I get an error relating to the irradiance map and instancing (cant remember the exact error). It is also trying to call up a global-illum file from Vlado's P: drive.
Can you render displacement maps in the demo version?
All my other scenes render fine (without displacement)

even merging the scene didnt help
settings should be ok

ill run a test if the demo does displacement...

according to this displacement tutorial

there is a modifier called VrayDisplacementMod which is used to setup the displacement
checking back in max i didnt find any vray modifiers
so there might even be some more things that dont work for the demo. (apart from DR)

can anyone confirm what else is missing in the demo?

Trying to open up the Grass-scene makes my MAX 5 shut down What version of Max and Vray is used to render the scene?

Nothing else than DR is missing. I play with the demo too, and have always had the VrayDisplacementMod present there.

Perhaps, try reinstalling the demo ...

Yeh!!!
It still doesnt answer my question with the error I get whenever I try to use Vray displacement. I alway get an error regarding some glob illum file that is sourced from vlado's p: drive. And yes I have tried the re-install.
Is it a Demo problem??? Has anyone else experienced it with the latest release demo?????

I just tried downloading the grass material and scene for vray but I get a 404...page not found.. Anyone still have it handy and wouldn't mind hosting it for a couple days?
