  • Cheap??? That's antique man, it's worth a fortune!

hehe I remember I once tried to install corel on such a pc, with 17 disks... It took me 4hours and then it all crashed! I'm glad I didn't have to work with computers for real jobs in those days...

      flipside:
If they were rendered with different version of Vray then there would most likely be a different looking render i believe.

      • My specs:
        P4 HT 2.6 Ghz
        1 Gb Ram
        2m 58s with natty optimization

I get the dark render too. Its there any solution to this problem?

One more thing: This is the best grass mat i ever seen, thanks to all for share.

        • Could we write some tips for the best usage of this awesome material? I've been expiriencing some problems with the "off the shelf" material from this exact scene. In grazing sheeps, the enviroment is slightly greenish, and the grass object is set to recieve more GI, that enviroment is not suitable for a building, and when this grass is used in a different enviroment it gets a bit dark, and wen it recieves more GI, the shadows on it are brighter than the rest in the scene.

          • This is odd, I rendered the sheep.max scene on my dual xeon 3.2 system with 2gb RAM. I had to render it twice because I didn't believe the results. 16 minutes and 19 seconds, both times. Normally, this system is EXTREMEMLY fast at rendering tests. I really need to figure out why a dual 2.8 system would render this scene 4 minutes quicker?

I made no changes to the scene just like flipside mentioned. Just downloaded, unzipped, and rendered.

            Any ideas?

                • The different render times for this scene is quite amusing ) If I were you people I would forget about this test as there is no 'standard' and most of the benchmakrs appear to be erroneous and misleading.

Have a look at Nattys post, with lots of optimisation tips, do those then render it.

Ignore all other time until then

                    • Well I only downloaded the scene to try and answer flipside's request for render times. I had no idea there were so many different versions floating around. I have no doubt that I could decrease the render times substantially, but the point was to use (what I thought) was the same file flipside was using to compare render times.

It's no biggie for me, I was just trying to help. I will move on now and stop wasting my time like nully mentioned.

                        • Hi pixelperfectcg,

I didn't change anything and used the same file as you did, downloaded from da force's link on this page!

I assume you have hyperthreading enabled?
