  • Taking VfSU beta for a spin...

Here's the first model I've been playing with -- The trike is a FormFonts component. My first impressions of the VfSU beta plugin are very favorable. Very easy IMHO to get a result and I like the user interface approach you've taken. (Even though I can't figure out the material editor -- yet).

The image shows how (prior to any tutorials) I haven't been able to edit materials for transparency/reflectivity etc. The image also had a HDRI probe loaded but the render looks the same as one done when it wasn't loaded.

Cheers ASGvis! VfSU Looks like a winner!

    Regards, Ross

Taking VfSU beta for a spin...

In my first playing with the VfSU beta I couldn't figure out how to do materials. What was happening was I missed the obvious -- I had expected the plugin to not be all that integrated into SketchUp. I was wrong -- it is integrated!

For those who don't know, this might help. (Hopefully when the the official tutorials are available, everyone will know). If you make a selection in SU, say a face, and then bring up the right-click context menu you'll find there's a v-ray related option that allows you to apply a v-ray material. Your SketchUp model's look doesn't change but when you render the v-ray material will be used. You can also open the plug-in's material editor and right-click on the 'scene materials'. It will allow you to import some pre-made materials you can use. Then when you do the material assignments in SU, those imported materials will be available.

I attach another test render: My first with v-ray materials.

nice now you just need to add rear view mirrors, and a horn and ofcourse the minor modification to the frame to install a hemi v16 aircraft engine

      and that thing will fly.

Just for fun I made this metallic version. (Isn't it typical for new users of rendering programs to like to make shiny things? )
