Well done. My experiance: clear reflection are not easy, but yours are looking great. Could you tell more, what environment you used?

Really nice image - I agree with Micha - Which HDR map are you using?

        Thanks for comments

        Scene is simple:

        Environment:
        GI : White : 1 | Background : Black : 1 : HDR map (abstract_room.hdr)

        abstract_room.hdr (1.9MB)

              Hi SAS

I really love that image, this might be your first Vray image but I'm shore isn't the first time you create render images.

              Is it?

BTW: how did you make those nice shadows in the bottom of the wite part?
I'm using the same kind of light you did in a diferent part but I get very hard shadows.

Can you explain me what does the values under Spotlight Shadows mean:
              bias:
              Radius:
              subdivs:

              Thanks
              Sergio

simple, but nice. Thanks for posting the HDRI.

This really my first V-Ray image, but Of course that isn't my first rendering...
Here download V-Ray rendering options sas.visopt and try with spotlight properties

                    Spotlight Properties:
                    Intensity
                    Color: white
                    Multiplier: 0 (needs 0.01)
                    Options
                    Decay: Linear
                    Hardness: 0
                    Sampling
                    Photon Subdivs: 750
                    Caustic Subdivs: 1250
                    Shadows
                    Bias: 0.9
                    Radius: 0.5
                    Subdivs: 5

                    And once more thanks all.

I wondered me to see no shadow from the spot - multiplier 0 has made the light off.

                        My first test V-Ray

                        Hi Micha,
I have tried with intensity multiplier 1.01 and shadows are not good
                        1.01 next 2.01... or opposite 0.00999999 (0.01)

                        Multiplier: 1.01

                        Multiplier: 0.1

                        Multiplier: 0.01

                        One question:
Did depend and how on rendering spotlight intensity multiplier 0.01?

                        S.A.S.

Sorry, I don't understand your last question. I would say, you could disable the spot now.

Often, if I want to improve the lighting of a HDRI, I add a rectangular light. Often, if it is a subtle light only, it is no problem to make it "invisible" (the reflection of rectangle area lights looks so poor, so hard). The HDRI bring the smooth realistic mood and the area light bring some good to control extra colorness or light effect.

Small hint: often I place objects with a very small gap between ground and object. So you get a clear shadow line under the object. The teapot shadow looks good, but the cans ... .

If you like to get soft shadows with spot lights, you can set a light source size per "radius". I think, most you don't need to touch the bias.

                            Hi Micha,

Ok, somehow I got the answer for my question...
                            and thanks for hints.

thankyou very much for your scene and setup information. I always found chrome objects very difficult to get any decent results with flamingo raytrace and was a little confused till i read this. I still consider myself really new to vray and every info counts.
