Soon I`ll improve mats.

Scene setup is simple - 1) draw L looking lines 2) fillet edge between them 3) join lines and fillet curve 4) extrude/revolve polyline 5) place model on/inside extruded/revolved surface

Very nice render/model indeed - I like the simplicity and cleanness of the lighting.

I was also curious about your scene/light set-up. Do you mean you dropped the CAT within a cap-less white cylinder? Did you use any GI? or just rectangular lights?

As far as your scene crashing, you may want to check your render mesh. Chances are there are allot of polys getting used in that mesh screen. See if you can optimize the render mesh settings, or go through and set custom render meshes for objects like that mesh screen.
