    Jeff

First set up the sun in Sketchup, so that it is either correct, or gives you the effect you are after, e.g. casting nice sunlight on the wall or floor. You need to have either sketchup glass in the window or nothing at all (my choice).

When you are satisfied with the sun location, go into the Environment menu - skylight and select sky as the texture and enable 'override suns parameters'. Here you can also set the suns size multiplier to about 10, this will give you soft shadows.

You also need to use the physical camera for this to work properly (see the manual)

Remember that if you later move the sun in sketchup you will need to disable and then re-enable the 'override suns parameters' to re-set it in vray (this appears to be a bug).

As to comments about your renders, they look very competant, although I think they may gain more 'atmosphere' and realism if you let the sunlight in, and maybe tone down the artificial lighting, which is currently quite bright. The reflections are good and I like the clutter and stuff that are in both scenes, which makes it look more natural.
The restaurant one must have taken a lot of work - very impressive.

Looks good - I think the sunlight and the greater amount of contrast in the room makes it look much more natural (and real) - Good work

The last three shots are great. Aside from the blocky looking pillows everything seams pretty darn spot on. And you got your render times down too so thats an added plus.

I agree. I particularly like the subtle reflections on the semi-gloss surfaces. I think you may have applied the wrong texture to the shelf at the foot of the bed (?) and maybe you need a few more bits and bobs in the room. Having said that I really like the renders and I think they have lots of atmosphere.
