  • My 1st Interior perspective

    Good day Vray Users!!!
I have some questions to ask regarding my 1st interior perspective done in Vray for Sketchup. Critics are encouraged and welcomed.

    1. How can I setup an directional pinlight near the wall that will bounce of the painting.

    2. How can I attach a Jpeg image in the wall? How can I manipulate it to show of it's reflections by the pinlight?

    3. How cna I put bumps in my stone wall accent?

    4. Same as #1: I want to out a downlight that will bounce the glare in the nearby mirror.

    5. How can I make the glass look like mirror? What settings and configurations will I use?

    6. I want to make the light stand in chrome or stainless steel finish/. How can I do that?

    7. I have lampshades but I don't know how to put lights in there to make it more cozy and realistic.

    8. How can I make the sun's ray go thru and inside the room? What preferred setting will I use and how?

    9. I want the laminated flooring look a little bit shinny. How can I make the furnitures reflect on my flooring?

Sorry for the numerous and redundant questions I have. I'm quite new to this and i'm only a 4day old Vray User and 1month Sketchup user. Neither do I have a background in 3dmax. I only use Autocad, Corel and Photoshop for my perspectives.

I hope I'll be able to catchup with you guys. Thanks in advance!

    Regards,

    Mike

    Addendum.....

Where can I get hold of furnitures that are for zen and minimalism? Could anyone provide a link for it?

Also, there are skp furnitures that can't be manipulated(change color etc), how can I change their color and manipulate the little details on the furniture?

    Thanks!

I think you would really get a lot of benefit from going through the Basic Interior Scene Settings tutorial which will answer many of your questions.

Dude... you need strong lights... The render its ok... but you need some dramatic lighting... to give it that wanted depth... i think you`ll now what i mean... good luck with that...

          Here goes nothing......

I still can't figure out the intensity of the bump. I think I over do the bumps on the floors and stone accent. I also don't know how to create chrome or stainless steel objects.
          More work and less time....

If you want less bump you reduce the multiplier in the bump map texture editor. It defaults to 1, so try 0.5 etc.

Metals should be in a folder downloaded with the programme. If you select vray material - import, you should see a selection of folders, one of which is metal, and in there are various metals including the ones you want. Do be warned though, anything 'blurry' increases the render times quite a bit.

Your lighting is now looking better, at least giving you some contrast. Are you using a point light? If so, try switching to rectangular lights as they give softer shadows. You could put rectangular lights inside the shades of your table lamps.

            Good Luck

Thanks David. I'm working on water right now. I'll see what experimentation I can think off with the bump. I hope it goes out well.

                Heres my indoor pool experiment...

Any comments guys? I'm still in the process of experimenting bumps and metals. Rendering time really kills me...Any short cuts for this?

                  mikaztro,

can see a lot of improvement from the first post. the image is very noisy, tweak the noise level. BTW are you using QMC or irradiance map?

nice try on the water, i think too much bump. try increasing the Global Illumination. or if you are using the physical camera try increasing the ISO.

                    Hello kapatid!

Thanks for your insightful comments. Where is the noise level, QMC/Irridance map adjustment settings if I may ask. I'm not yet familiar with the ins and outs of Vray for SU. The render came out of the box with only the bump, light and some textures added to it. Is there a way I can render this image half the time?

                    Thanks!

                    Mike

I've adjusted the camera settings, improved the materials and bump configurations. I hope there's an improvement. Hoping to hear some inputs from the experts..

                      Thanks

                            mike,

under Indirect Illumination parameter, what is your primary engine? ( is it QMC quasi monte carlo or IR-irradiance map. ussually i find QMC although exact in calculation its much slower than IR. IR as primary engine combine with Lightcatch as secondary engine produce less noisy yet fast rendering. you can also lower the noise threashold under qmc sampler.

                              Thanks for the tip Nomer.

By the way, how can I make the sun rays go inside the room? I'm having a hard time setting it up.
