  • Photo montage - real project 3

I thought I would try using a HDRI in the background slot instead of all this 'billboard' stuff to get the reflections. After a false start with an innappropriate HDRI I stuck with this one from 'spectralogue'. It would be nice to be able to shift the backround image, in order to get the right bit to reflect, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

Also I have been disappointed with bump maps for the texture on roof tiles, and as I can't get displacement to work (hint, hint) I have resorted to modelling the steps in the roof slope. It wasn't too much effort and I think the effect made it worthwhile.

      Hi David!

Care to show us the before and after image? Maybe you could share your tips to us as I greatly appreciate your style of rendering. Is that image post processed in PS? Thanks!

Really nice. The house seems very well integrated as if it has always been part of the reeal photo.

        Great Job.

                kuba111

If it helps I have uploaded to the 'downloads' section the following VISOPTS, which are the settings used for the render in this thread.

                gi_irmap_medium_ext-phcam

As you can see it started out life as 'gi_irmap_medium' and then I tweaked it, so that's where to go back to if you want to track it to its roots!

I suggest putting your own appropriate bitmap in the 'environment' slot to provide reflections for glass

                Good Luck

Nice rendering, Since the download area is closed, can you send me the visopt file "gi_irmap_medium_ext-phcam".

                      Hi guys

Don't get too excited! remember this is a photo-montage, so the vray image part is the area I have highlighted in red here
I wouldn't want you thinking I'd rendered the whole lot!!

The trick is to match the materials, lighting and shadows to the background photograph as closely as possible. Thanks for the comments.

                        Hello!
Can't appreciate your work better than not speaking at all... I'm speachless! Had the displacement map worked for the roof, will the rendering take lesser time?? And also, you used SU's photomatch didn't you? And oh! I'd also like to get a grab of that visopt, if you don't mind! Please???! ;D My email is paulo_kulot@yahoo.com... Thanks!!!
