  • Help with roofing shingles

    Good day Vray users!

I have a little problem with the roofing shingles. I need help in adjusting the right correction for the roof. Paging David!

    Thanks in advance! Regards.

    Mike

P.s. Thank you to Micha for his wonderful grass tip.

    Mikaztro

    You called!

The problems is a) small texture samples and b) low angle of roof ruins the texture.

So far, I've found the best solution is to model the roof, i.e. actually model the steps in the roof slope, it doesn't take too long - especially if you create a component that you can use again. Then apply as large a scale of texture that you can find - I edited out the horizontal lines in a roof texture in ps, so I was left with the mottle effect but nothing to clash with the steps in the roof slope.

Now - how did you do the water - it looks good!

Are you using the physical camera and the sun?

    Good luck

      Re: Help with roofing shingles

Thanks David. So you mean to say I have to make my own shingles like what Micha did with his grass sample? Yikes! Ok, I get it now. Damn! This is going to be fun! Hahaha.

Yep, I used Physical camera(iso 100/shutter speed 125) with sun on and reduced its multiplier to 0.8.

I still couldn't make the shingles look any better even if I used a big shingle roofing file. To my consolation, at least i've integrated the billboard of trees to the scene.
