          Re: some mtl. test

          Very nice work man ;D ;D ;D!!!
I'm trying to get clip maps work either, but i can't :-\
I do as you've done: i apply directly the clip map as a diffuse map to the object in SU, so i can take the holes down to the right size. Then i make a linked mat, and i set the clip map right where it should be. But just when i try to make a reflection layer (to make some sort of perforated metal) the reflection happens in the clipped parts too, even if i put the same clip map in the transmittance slot..

So i'd very very like to see a great tutorial, like the one i'm sure you'll be able to do! ;D

Their is the Vray manual (PDF) to see this tutorial about clipping mask. on page 50, you will see a topic that will show about TRANSPARENTING MAPPING. for example, in the material editor, you want to change from color to image in the diffuse section (M button). and on the right is the transparency which you will have to change the color to image (M button). now for transparency the images has to in greyscale. black refers to mask and white refers to opaque.

                  Hi
I've tried this transparency mapping from the manual and for some reason can't seem to get it to work. As anyone had any sucess with it. I'm sure there must be some setting that I need to change but haven't managed to figure it out.

I have to agree of what you guys mention about the manual of clipping mask. i did not work for me either. i messed around over a hour trying to figure it out and still i dont see any masking. I close the file and reopen it, also tried it in component groups buti dont get any results. hopefully dolomar might solve the problem.

Well everybody, i hate to mention this but i believe that we can no longer add attachment to the forum anymore. Mainly because it is full. I hope Dolomar and Joe might add more space to the forum. The only solution for now is to open an account from other servers for storage and just add links to the forum.
