hey, i remap the textures in c4d, then export to 3ds, then into sketchup, where the front
face of the leaf planes are mapped correctly but the back face are shifted or too small but dont worry because as soon as you apply the linked material TO THE FRONT FACE vray disregards whatever texture is on the back and translates through(by the way a handy tip for when you import a model from www.archive3d.com or a similar site and the models have a particular texture mapping but not on the reverse face, just add a blank clip map and the mapping on the front translates to the back... when you render of course ...
there will a couple more renders coming from this project in the next couple of days
will keep you posted
heres a sketchup hidden geometry shot to demonstrate that there are no billboards in the scene all the trees were models, i avoid billboard as they dont give you the depth that the shadows of the leaves would create.
that means it involves really a lot of time and dedication and money to buy all these softwares
On Greenworks website it says that the DVD's with trees and plants comes with various file formats, including 3ds. So if you only use the packages and don't need to generate your own then there isn't so much work. Just resave the tiff textures to png and apply the clipmaps in V-Ray. Once you've set the trees/plants you want to use, with v-ray linked materials, they are very easily reused. Just place the component and import the linked materials.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

Theres only two option to export it: wavefront and VRML..and I tried saving it "save as' and open it on c4d it says unknown format...
Please post quick tutorial...

Xfrog exports textures as TIFF images. V-Ray doesn't read that format. Resave the textures to PNG using PhotoShop or similar. If the TIFF uses an alpha channel extract that into a separate black&white image which you use for Transparency for the Diffuse layer in V-Ray.

I know this is an idiot question.... but I can't find the import in the file menu in cinema4d...Its driving me nuts.......(I know how to import files like the usual thing but cinema 4d doesn't have it in file menu, only export) please help..
