    Re: AUDI TT-update-NEW

ANother one. Is there a easy way to fit the images with HDRI? All other images i try always look SO BIG in scene. I downloaded a lot of HDRI images but all of them seem so big that don´t reflect right. I don´t know what to do because just rotate (horizontal or vertical) don´t solve this issue.

    Cheers hdri folks!

      Re: AUDI TT-update-NEW

Hi Nick! When I made the last render( the one with shadow) I
enabled the default light, so since I already had a good lightning from HDRI file, I just make the multiplier of that
hdri( from GI Skylight tab) smaller @ 0.7 if I remember, in order to compensate the amount of light from the default light(sun). So I suppose that you only have to do the same thing, but only in skylight.
You can try also to use the physical camera, but remember to raise the multiplier of the HDRI file @ 1000, or more, for having more control through the exposure controls.
Ooh...regarding your rendering... it looks odd...the mapping of the HDRI I mean...make shore that you mapped the file correct, as "environment" and
"spherical" as mapping type, since that particularly HDRI it is a "spherical map"
Kgoku, I really don't know what to say....I still try to catch all the aspects of the HDRI, still learning myself, that's why I was so happy seeing other people interested in that direction.. So far I got lucky with my HDRI, but what I try is that I search the appropriate one, that seams to match somehow with my scene. You should also try to find some feedback on google about the HDRI, because not all are the same, there are many type, so you should know what kind are yours, for correct mapping for example because I have the same file, but with many other type of that file, like "spherical map" "light probe" "blurred light probe" horizontal cross" etc. so I don't really know what to do with those maps... what I know is that all except the "spherical" ones are smaller.
I know that what I said it's not really help you, but honestly hope that you will not give up, and still experiment in that direction, witch is very useful for all of us. Remember that I don't receive any feedback about HDRI , just search on google, and try to understand what I can, so I'm not an expert like migz call me, just a newbie who's trying to do better and better. Just like you, right? So why don't we make this road together, it will be much easier, right?
      Regards,
      Stefan

        Re: AUDI TT-update-NEW

        Hi there!

I´m doing some research on google about that topic. I finally "get it", now i just need to be able to repeat the results i want anytime and in any situation.

I used a retangular light in my previous interior scene and discovered more things. The first one is that the time render increase a lot, HOURS to render the same scene. The second one is almost the same as you did with skylight: low values (i used 7).

About the position i download a lot of HDRI images (some Good ones on evermotion) and tested all of them even resizing on photoshop. I got the same lame results.

This is a good tutorial with almost the same thing we are doing here. I feel so bad knowing that there are so many tutorials on 3dstudio´s Vray and so few on SketchuP.

        See ya´ll.

          Hi stefaq...
          Thanks for the input...
I've already try ...but I tried with default cam...and this is the result.. First the shadow is to sharp...then I edit with PS.
Humm but I think in interior case I cannot use the physical cause I cannot get the sun effect in the room, heheh if It is true (newbie) ;D...please the C&C.

How did you fit the image? I was looking to your last render and something changed.

SO far i think the best sun effect is achieve doing a retangular light off scene (because you can control the color either).

              Re: AUDI TT-update-NEW

              Hi guys!
First of all ,thanks for support guys, I was kind of lonely in this " HDRI" revolution like migz said..
Kgoku, regarding the light type when you simulate the sun..
it's not a rule, but the rectangular lights it's just for simulate the skylight, behind the windows, to get that nice ambient lightning, and for sun, people use directional lights, but not rectangular ones, more like omni, because the sun is round, small and very bright. So, in our case, with sketchup and v-ray I mean, we should use the sketchup sun, for shadows, and rectangular lights behind the windows,
to fill the room with light, like skylight does.
About the tutorials, I know what you mean...thanks for the link, I didn't sow that one.

Nick, in order to get the shadows, you should put some geometry in your scene. Try to simulate a room.I believe you only have some spheres, and a HDRI , right?
Make a box with holes, like a room, and put the spheres inside. Change the HDRI map too, an exterior one this time.
Play with the sketchup sun , until you get the position of the shadows as you like. That should do the trick!
Hope this help, and post the result you get, OK?

                Hi stefanq!
Lately I've been following your interesting posts about HDRI, learned a lot from them, Thanks!!! But I didn't really had the opportunity to try them on my "actual" scenes, I mean I just played around with them on experimental scenes, ... Anyway, I have a real stupid question that is really way off the topic, how do I post images in this forum? I want to post some of my works too so I can improve from the comments, and maybe contribute too? I get error messages everytime I try, or maybe I'm just doing it all wrong... haha... Thanks a lot!!!
Oh, and thanks for those HDR's also...

hey stefanq, how are u, ive been following all youre post and renders and tanx to u i understand a bit more on HDRI , u are the best man, i have 1 question.... you put the omni light outside youre window? so light wiil come in like the sun, creating shadows on its path?, ive been having real trouble with sun coming in my window. I have phisical camera on, vray material of glass on my window, i allready put the sketchup sun facing the window, and i see the light coming in, in skethup, but when i render, no light comes in..., ive even put some holes in my roof(tragaluces) and i cant see the light on the floor and walls like when sun comes in windows..... the room is iluminated, but i cant get the sun to shine on the surfeces....

after this post im putting some pics of all my settins and scene, its driving me crazy

tanx for all the help youve given us.

                          Hi there, mate!

I don´t know much about this, but i´m pretty into those HDR and WIps here. From experience i know that if you´re going to use physical camera things change a lot. So i recommend turn off that camera first. Another thing is use a rectangular light in the window (or near outside) to simulate sun (i like that because you can push color to yellow or orange to mood the scene).

Well, thats all i got! Cheers!

                              Hi guys!

Kgoku, you are right, it's better without physical camera, but I don't know what to say about those rectangular lights in the windows...from what I know(I'm not100% shore), lights in windows simulate the sky, not the sun.So, basically, this effect, we try to achieve it, using the hdri.
                              Chillin,
About the shadows...I get mine via sketchup sun(shadows), so, I say, turn off physical camera, and be shore that your glass it's ok.Affect shadows and affect alpha, must be checked,in mat. editor of the glass...this must be a problem.
Your hdri it's not good. First, you have a interior scene, so you have to use a exterior HDRI. Use one of mine. Another thing, you don't have to put the hdri in the reflection slot, just in GI and Background. Your hdri is not mapped right. that kind of hdri (a big chrome sphere) is a "light probe" and you should map that as "angular".
OK, if it's not working, remove the glass. Remember that the hdri it's wrapped around your scene, so basically, you should have a exterior background, so a exterior hdri.
                              Good luck!
