      Dman3D:
Did you actually model those trees or is it one of those 3rd party plugin trees?????

They look awesome....I am using speedtree and it doesnt catch the light as well.

The ficus in the back corner is from Xfrog made by GreenWorks,
the philodenron was modeled by hand (the one closer to the camera)
The philodendron is climbing a stump or piece of driftwood, whichever
        you prefer to imagine.

I have speed tree as well, problem is they tend to look artificial.
XFrog is more or less a procedural modeler for plants or any shape for
that matter. That ficus is from one of the extra pre-built libraries.

        andre:
using displace/waterlevel seems like a good idea, but if introduces too much new geometry, you should use mesh-leaves. refractionmaps are terribly slow, whereas vray doesn´t seem to care about another 100000 polygons.
from my experience with vray, modeling things instead of mapping the best approach.
Agreed, VRay does not seem to care how big it is in polys, just nooks and
crannies bring you to your knees. I would use geom leaves like the vine
but it would require shredding the tree model apart and replacing each
one with a geom leaf. Not sure I am up to that challenge, I would go insane
first. Think I will tolerate the transparency errors for the time being.

I need to model some more leaves/vines. Been using the same ones
over and over. Perhaps I will mix up the scale and map.
        Same ones I used here

are on the coffee table and left vine
