1 ) Extend the edges of your spoltlights up so they intersect the ceiling rather than stop on its face.
2 ) Paint the back faces of everything in your spotlights with an RGB 0,0,0 black material (call it "Pure Black" or something). I do this to all geometry as a matter of course to cut down on weird light leaks, artefacts and reflections from back faces. It also means raw SU renders always show nice clean black edges.
Thanks for the reply Fred. The lights are typical 6" fixtures. I think the IES effect is a bit too strong, though. I am in the process of updating with the suggestions.
