This swimming pool was refused but I made some images for our company for our website anyways. Could be much better but so far, these are the results .

Looks good steve, the water is excellent and the lighting looks pretty good too although a little gloomy to the back face of the pool (piers). Keep us updated with any changes you may make.

      Thanks!

I added some lights to the back. Also, I changed the anti-aliasing filter to Catmull Rom, trying to achieve a sharper result. C&C?

The water was simply a single face painted with a water material that was just a simple transparent material with reflection on and a noise map added for the bump map. One day... I'll try playing with refraction!

Oops... and apparently I forgot to turn on my silhouettes layer before rendering :P

Yer it looks better now, nice one. How about adding a little colour to those structural rafter members and I think you have the making of a good image there. You might even lengthen the roof lights to let even more light cast onto the pool.

What kind of colour would you suggest? Red?

It looks a bit dark, the two first images were better illuminated.
Also i think you should add a refraction to the water. Look how the black stripes distorts in real photo:

              Re: Swimming Pool

I'm trying to add some refraction to the water now. I've never really messed around with the refraction settings before so this is pretty much completely new for me. (I think I skipped the refraction part in the manual haha)

Red might look ok, maybe black. I'm guessing if the project had gone ahead they wouldnt have them white.

                  Re: Swimming Pool

                  Righteo...

I've changed the water to having a depth with refraction. Also changed the noise map to a displacement map rather than bump and I turned on caustics.

The lattice, I changed to red. I tried black but personally I preferred the red.

Looks much better. It only needs AA, and maybe glowing effect on the lights via Ps.

Your last images are really great.

Water texture is much better so! Would you share it?

                            I love it now!

That little bit of color really added value to the picture.

                              Thank you! ;D

Here are my settings for the water. Actually, I have no idea what frequency and persistence under the noise settings mean.
