    Hi guys,
I never get the chance to do interior models and fancied having a quick go with vrays interior lights etc. Its a quick and simple model of a photo I found in the Architects Journal. Comments and crits appreciated, this is my first ever interior so looking for things to improve upon.

    Edonk,

Did you model the piano? It's nicely modelled but I reckon it could do with some bevelling on the edges. I believe there are Ruby Scripts out there for doing so, but I'm not familiar with them. I actually tried modelling a piano once, but I could never could get the colour of the piano correct. I wanted a nice highly glossed black but it didn't seem to work. I think the piano here would look much better if it were blacker.

The scene itself is nicely lit . The background is a bit iffy though. It kinda clashes with the window frame. The edges of the frame show a bit of white where it meets the background. Maybe try increasing the exposure on the background.

What would be nice is night scene image with all the lights on .

Great job, especially for a first interior!!

      Re: Music Academy

Nice mood and lighting, I agree with the comments above however the piano lid is especial faceted. Other things I noticed were the wood texture on the wall battens is tiling and I believe on the vertical battens the textures are going the wrong way. A bit of clone tool in PS could sort this out tho.
The wood floor is well done but it would be nice to see the exterior environment reflected slightly in it. I would do this by duplicating your outside image, flipping it horizontally, reducing the opacity, adding gaussian blur and then erasing it subtly with a soft brush to get the desired effect. Also maybe a higher res background image would help things?
      Great image tho!

        Re: Music Academy

Thanks for the comments guys. Steve I didnt model the piano myself, its a low poly model but thought it would be suitable just for a quick test. I agree it could do with some work on it to make it look alot better. I tried the highly glossed piano black as thats what I wanted but it never looked quite right, the massive amount of reflection just kinda made the scene 'messy'. So I made it as close to the original photo image as I could which was a duller less polished black.
The frame has the white tint on as its a pretty reflective material so when I rendered the original image with no background it created the white areas. Obviously in real life it would be reflecting the outside scene, so this was one part of the image I feel really lets it down but I'd work on it next time.
Puffinviz, I tried to get the battens not to tile, I think there is only 2 or 3 that do, I suppose I got bored Yer the texture also runs the wrong way DOH! Sometimes you get blinded by a scene once you spend a bit of time on it and miss the little details.
I'll give your tips about reflecting the interior a try, altho the original photo doesnt reflect any of it in the floor I like the idea!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the feedback.
