          NEKTARES:
I used map + transparency for fire and use a omni lights (with decay = inverse, subdivs = 15 ...).
I do not use "emissive" because lighting is not well.

thats right! emmisive is not good for lighting, i think the same, because it burns where its close and its weak when its far, i think your render is so well modeled (plus great textures and light) that all together deliver an amazing result, excellent work, thanks for the tip on the fireplace, if you used just 15 as a value i assume you are using standard camera and controlled point and rectangular lights, am i right?

                  NEK:
I use the Physical Camera. light source is HDRI. omni lights in this scene using multiplier = 7-10. because I put F-number = 2 should be enough light intensity.

It depends on what type of lighting your talking about. I think it can be used just fine for subtle lighting, for instance in a night scene with ample lighting. This would add to the effect of the fire if it can be used in this scenario. But, for lighting a scene, you are right, it should not be used as a lighting source. This would produce unwanted results and artifacts.
