  • Airport Concourse Addition - New Orleans

Here are some images I have been working on for a presentation. Materials havent been decided, just had to put something in for now. Of course, everything needed to be modeled; interior exterior...you name it.
The scene includes over 965,000 polygons in this scene. I used Dr for all of the images created. Irradiance map took about 30 min to created and about 20 minutes to render each image at 1440 x 972. I have placed some photometric lights on the perimeter, a couple vray lights for general lighting and one direct light for the sunlight. I have portals at each clearstory window. I have skylight turned on and set to 1. I am not using any color mapping. These are the images straight from Viz.

I know the lighting will get much better once I focus on it. Please C&C. Thanks,

    Arkitec

By no means are these images finished.

Holy cow that is excellent work.
I really like the seconed exterior rendering, the interior lighting is pretty good too. The departure lounge is a tiny bit dark, it looks like you are handling the scale of things really well. Congratulations man.

Cant wait to see to finished results. Most excellent.

        I dont get it....

Looks like a Steven King's ("Langoliers" or smth.) movie shots.

        Images look scary.

        Exterior images:

-What for do you need so many planes? Maybe you should use only 2 or 3 and put a good texture on the ground?

-for me it looks like shadows are pointing at different angles (point source light above the airport)

        Interior images:

        -quake levels... cold and scary

-cant see tables at cafeteria ()

        -lattice get in roof

Thank you for the quick responses.

Dman3d - Color mapping - as in the Vray: g-buffer/color mapping. Default settings are set to linear multiply dark 1., bright 1. I have noted several people using exponetial and hsv mapping. Since I have exterior and interior images, I thought it might be important info. Most topics that have addressed color mapping were/are with interior images.

Shurlin - So many planes???? Because its an airport!!!!! Its the actual layout of how these planes are stationed. Im not insinuating that you are an artist, but in the world of architecture, scale and reality are a must. As I stated above, only one direct light source acting as the sun. Your other comments are right on target. I noticed the top chord of the trusses are entering the roof deck, I need to fix that and the I also need to work on the glass surfaces of the tables....I agree.

Cocolas - these images were the first ideas presented to the owner, with the understanding that lighting has not been designed yet. They are WIP. Material selection will also change as well.

                Thanks again everyone.

I was curious as to which color mapping method you are using and
the settings. You have a very nice contrast there.

                    same here!

always trying to find the "perfect" exposure....a never ending quest

What's the render time on that? And how long did you spend working on this? Unless it's completely necessary for an animation, I'd knock out the interior and exterior into two separate scenes to get faster render times.

Are you using dreamscape or a regular bitmap for the environment? I'd defintely try to implement HDRI in the final.

But it looks great considering there's no lights. Can't wait till we see the final!
