Re: Personal projects (Sci-fi and Fantasy)

Although I am a member of several forums that talk about modeling, and rendering engines and have seen many great works, and indeed, practically I'm new posting here and I have only less than two years using Sketchup and more than a year using Vray and more seriously to see your pictures until my head hurt to see the excellence of your work and the whole process.
As in the case of Teo is difficult to assess a job so very well done by a jury and usually go to conceptualize in the most subjective, not appreciating the skill, imagination and detail of what is shown as it should be.
You are my inspiration teofas like to continue learning and someday to master the programs as you do, but I think they are unique.

    You're a winner, Go ahead!

    P. S. Sorry for my poor English.

Now look at the comments on the contest page - everybody is seriously disappointed with the judgement.
So am I - you would have deserved to be one of the finalists, at least!

      Rock on!!

@ Teo, Devin, Cajon49, Matthias and Elzerpaz: Thanks guys for all your kind words.

Ok, since I am done with the Starship, I have started a few new things. Auto Show.

C & C are welcome to help me improve my Vray rendering skills.

          Have a nice one,

wow... you know what, you're like in a whole different league ken, your work is amazing.
              i have... two questions...
how big are your files? for example this one...what machine do you have?
do you model everything? cause there's a lot of detail in those columns...
one more thing... maybe it's too much to ask, but, i'm really curious. do you think that you can make a very simple and quick tutorial of how you modeled the ship?
i'm actually preparing a video tutorial and i'm using "camtasia" to record my screen :P
btw, your carpaint looks terrific. nice flares too

                Hehe, Ken...
                awesomesauce, mate!

But hey, would you redo the render using either another focal length or a fisheye? The distorsion looks a bit weird on the Ferraris...
Do they have an interior, as well? Would be cool to see a bit more through the windows

                Keep it up!!

                Cheers,
                Matt

@ Omar: Thank you very much for your kind words.

1- My files are around 40 MB to over 150 MB. This one is about 65 MB.
                  2- I have a Dell Studio XPS 8100 i7 CPU 860@2.80GHz 12.0 GB (RAM) 1.5 GB Nvidia Quadro FX 5600
3- Yes, I usually model and texture everything. If you scroll up this thread, you can see more images of that temple that I use for the Auto Show. For this one, I did not model the cars, although I guess I could do if I have time, but I wanted to focus mainly on materials and Vray rendering.
4- I think someone asked me about a tutorial on the making of the Starship. I will do it someday, but I don't have time right now. Also, I need to get a software for screen recording. Maybe i can learn something from your "camtasia" tutorial.
5- The car paint is actually a material from the Vray download section (so credit should go to Fernando or whoever did it). I use HDRI for the car paint. The flares are postworked in PS.

@ Matthias: Thank you, I am glad you like it. Yes, I will try to do another render with different focal length when I have the chance.

                  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

After I saw some of the renders from masters Teo, Adam McPartland and others in the Vray contest, I told myself I need to learn more about Vray and improve my rendering skills. So besides the Auto Show, I have been quite busy working on a few other projects at the same time and will post them as soon as they are finished.

Here's this one called "Karoline, clean up your room!". Karoline is my little princess who will turn 2 years old this December.

Hope you like it. C&C are welcome.

                  Have a nice day!

@ Omar: Thank you for your comment. Yes, the sun light ray effect is done in Photoshop. I will do a quick tut with images for you when I have time. But basically, just make the shape of you light ray with the lasso tool by "feathering" the edge. Then fill in with white. Play with the opacity to get the desired effect.

@ gallystops: Thank you. I am glad you noticed the blur effect. I did it to the background to make the main focus on the center table with chairs and Hello Kittie and also give a sense of depth.

Yes, the materials are just basic colors or a simple rubber/plastic materials from the Vray download section. I did not do any complicated materials (or maybe I don't know how to do it..LOL). Sometimes simplicity is the answer.
