          Hi guys,

This is my latest render. It was supposed to be done for the ASGVIS-V-Ray interview but did not have the time to finish it.

I have done some car renders with HDRI before, but this is the first time I am experimenting with a real photo as backplate.

I tried to make it as realistic as possible.

Hope you like it. C&C are welcome.

          Best,

            it's looking great ken.one doubt.
what did you do to get the shadow underneath the vehicle?
is it photoshop work?, or did you create a plane or something so there could be shadows?

Nice one. How the hell do you get such accurate and organic looking shapes in sketchup though? Whenever i need a model of something organic, i do it in rhino to then export to sketchup.

                        • Hello everyone,

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have not posted anything for a long time.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and I wish you all the best for 2013!

Let me reply to some of your comments/questions.

                          >> @ Omar: Thanks for your comment. The shadow was done in Photoshop, just basic soft brush with a dark color. The shadow is on a multiply layer and I played with the blur function and opacity. Hope this helps.

                          >> @ deanfitton: Thank you for your comment. About the sun haze entering through the windows, I did not do any PS postwork. It was part of the original Vray render. Using a great HDRI helped to create it.

                          >> @ Newgate: LOL...thanks for your comment. I used to be an architectural designer (that's how I found out about Sketchup when it came out back in 1999 or 2000) before leaving architecture to work for the game industry. I went back to school to earn a degree in games where I learned Studio Max and Maya. However, Sketchup is still my favorite program. Take your time, do what you love, go to Sketchucation.com to see what people do with Skechup, and practice, practice and practice. Practice makes perfect, right?

Ok, just a little update on where I am. The game I was working on got shipped (http://www.riftgame.com/en/), so I am able to post some of my concepts. I left the company in the summer of 2011 to do some freelance works. Electronic Arts/Maxis contacted me on November 2011 to offer me a job to work on Simcity 5 (http://www.simcity.com/en_US). The contract lasted a year till November 2012. It was a fun experience doing hundreds of architectural buildings for them. I cannot post anything yet due to NDA.

I am now looking for a job and working on personal projects to update my portfolio. I will post some of my vehicles concepts soon.

In the meantime, here are some concepts I did for Trion Worlds' Rift. These were done 3 or 4 years ago, but I have not had the chance to post them here yet due to NDA at the time. I have a lots of concepts I did with Sketchup and Vray and will post them in the next weeks when I have time.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

                          _KN

As usual, Sketchup, Vray and Photoshop.

                          • Hi there,

I hope everyone is doing fine. I noticed that this forum has been more quiet and less active than it used to be with ASGVIS.

Here are some more concepts from the online video game Rift.

As usual, Sketchup + VrayFS + Photoshop.

                            Have a great day!
