      >> Thanks for your comment, Sanjeev. Yes, these are Sketchup modesl. They look really detailed because I do lots of Photoshop postworks. Sorry, I don't have any tutorials on modeling with Sketchup, however, you can see the progress of one of my mode detailed Sketchup model, the 1km long starship on Sketchucation here:

Some more concepts I did for the online game Rift. As usual Sketchup + VfS + Photoshop.

      Have a great weekend!

      • Hello everyone,

As I have mentioned earlier, I worked on Simcity 5 for a year. The game has shipped a few months ago. I finally got the green light to post some of the concepts I did.

        Have a great weekend!

            • Wow, it has been almost a year since my last post.

Sorry, I have been so busy (employed and unemployed) the past year.

I hope everyone is doing fine.

Here's a couple of concepts I did for Simcity Cities of Tomorrow that was released last year. (http://www.simcity.com/en_US/buy/ep1)

These buildings are a bit more futuristic compared to the ones I posted before.

The designs below are based on Minimalism.

              Best,

                • wow Ken.
I'm impressed. I remember you also posted an entry for a contest, a spaceship. Since then i've wondered how many plugins you use to model.
Please, tell me about your model process. Your images for simcity are modelled in sketchup, and then you render them in Vray?

Hi Omar, Thanks for your kind words. Yes, the spaceship model was for a contest back in 2009. I use all kind of plugins (free and paid) to create hard surface and organic shapes. My process is very simple. I model in SketchUp by using basic tools as well as plugins and render with V-Ray for SketchUp, then final paintover or color adjustments in Photoshop.

                    Hello Friends,

Wow, time flies. It's been almost two years since my last post.

A lot of things have been happening in my professional life. After EA's Simcity, I worked for a mobile game company for about two years before the company ran out of money and had to lay off the art department. I found a new job and relocated to Los Angeles from San Francisco. I now do concepts for the themed entertainment for Victory Hill (http://www.victoryhillexhibitions.com/) on projects like Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. or Hasbro Transformers.

So back to that mobile game, I can share the concepts I did for ChronoBlade. These images are from the first chapter of the game.

As usual modelled in SketchUp, rendered with V-Ray for SketchUp and postworked in Photoshop.

                    Have a wonderful week!
