  • Some candlelight

Just thought to post some candle holder designs I've made.

First, my t-splines design contest piece the 'Tree of Light':

And some glass cups for tea lights:

Hats off to you! Great renderings! One could almost mistake the second image for a true picture.

One question though, since the granite top is so reflective, shouldn't there be some sort of reflection of the candle holders too? Also the flames should have a different hue depending on the colour of the holder, I think. Same goes for their reflection.

The glass looks great and I also like the metal in the first picture, looks as if it's melting.

    Great job!

If you look closely, you'll see some reflection of the candle holder just next to the green and grey ones. The granite top has a glossiness value of .9 which together with the contrast eats up most of the reflections. I tried to make the reflections more visible, but that required raising the GI multiplier way too high (even with mirror finish granite) to retain the candle-lit feeling that I was after. Perhaps a few rect. lights would do the trick... Have to give it a try some day.

Thanks! The metal is the two-layer silver material, which ships with V-Ray.
