  • Happy Holidays from SchultzeWORKS ... and some birds

I designed this birdhouse for a Christmas present for my Mom. (Don't tell her!) The prototype came out so cool, I have decided to put his into production next year. And, in the meantime, the birdhouse is featured on our company Holiday Card.

    FYI :
The house was designed in Rhino & rendered with V-Ray.
The rest was from artists at istockphoto and composited with Photoshop.

      Another view of Googie Town

Here's a group image of four model copies. I use this trick to show all angles of a design in a single render. Its so much better than showing three separate renderings next to each other.

Another technique I use is to render in matte gray, before any materials are applied. This allows me to better analyze the pure form without distracting colors and finishes. I highly recommend it.

        The prototype is complete!

I love designing and rendering, but sometimes the physical object is hard to beat. Here is a photo of the finished birdhouse as displayed on the proud owner's mantle.

The process used was stereolithography with a satin white paint.
