I was talking to an architect friend of mine the other day, and he said that his draftsmen takes home more money then he does. I was talking to another architect friend last week, who lost his job several years ago, and makes 2X the money now delivering packages. I love art, I have always drawn, and I would do it even if I didn't get paid (hobby). Some of us might need to have a day job, to pay the bills, and work our 3D magic as a hobby. It's a dream to get paid doing what you love to do, but few have that luxury, and we all still have to eat.

In my personal opinion, the World's economy is going to tank in 2013, so it isn't going to get any easier on us. Pencil and paper is cheap, so stock up on it, so you can draw when the internet comes crashing down

I think exactly the same, well I didn't have such precise date but overall I think all stuff gonna fall hard sooner or later I hope or sooner .
Civilizations need fresh start, no point of trying to glue things together anymore.
I think that there was one moment in history, one president in USA who really wanted to show the truth and made things right...

During crisis it should be better for 3d stuff... because developers have to pre-sell or minimize risk so renderings are the best tools to do it but on the other hands Architects also want to get that piece of the pie having interns working with illegal versions to do it in house...I hope 2012-future get better because I'm buying a house.

Having had a couple of clients go awol when it's time to pay, I propose we start a black list!

its a good idea.. although it might be worth asking a lawyer friend, if someone has one, before posting company details, sounds like the kinda thing people could get a little litigious over. id have a couple of biggies to add! - wonder if it should be strictly people who dont pay at all, or those that just make your life hell, and do everything they can to -avoid- paying, even if they cough up something at the end? i.e. the "run awaaaay" list.

I am even open to start a separate agency to look into piracy specially for Vray in India. There is no doubt Vray is leader in architectural viz. & most of the artists are using this software. But as already said very few are using original copies ( atleast in India) There is hardly any investment such people are doing which is why they are ready to work for peanuts.. If such people can be stopped, hopefully industry rates should come back to normal all over the world. I am sure none of us will mind if chaos will spend some amount on cracking piracy & in returns they can increase rates of their software a bit. I really get Pi****off when i followup with potential client for weeks & came to know later that projects is awarded to bunch of freelancers ready to do same in peanuts.. Why cant some agency be assigned this task of keeping tab on such people who are using pirated stuff?

I thought about having some kind of official software stamp, that you can add to your website, when you buy the software. The stamp would link to the official site, so it couldn't be fakes. It would be like http://www.verisign.com

Exactly it is not the client who are bothered if you are using original or pirated.. they just want low cost..
