  • Gateway House - Manchester

    Hi guys

Here is a set of images that we have produced for the proposed re-development of Gateway House in Manchester. We originally created 4 photomontages which helped the architect win this years MSA Design Awards for Best Un-built Scheme. I have included the original backplate photograph for comparison.

    Hope you like

Nicely done overall. I just find the new buildings slightly over-bright in a couple of instances. It probably helps sell the building, good from the client perspective, but hurts the composite a bit IMO.

      Good job in any case.

thanks for the feedback Brett - are you mainly talking about the dusk shots? I agree probably a little over cooked in some places. The green bands and shop signage are LED back lit panels, and so the client wanted these to jump out so to speak. Funnily enough, they are proposing for the LED bands to feature moving images/graphic/colours and might want us to animate the image to help sell the concept.

I figured out the LED thing after a sec, but my first thought was "wow, bit bright" before I realized

I actually think the brightness thing I mentioned is on all of them: more specifically the 3/4 tones and shadows seem a bit light compared to the rest of the shot. This seems to be a common thing with CG renders IMO. I always have to add a bit more snap in those areas to settle renders into photos, but maybe that's just my perception.
