  • some new interiors

Here are some new interior images I did recently.
They're not as perfect as some stuff I've seen here lately, but it's commercial stuff and lately I seem to be only in a hurry to finish things.
Irradiance mapping with linear color mapping, a direct light for sun and some additional Vray light for the windows.
Next interior I'll start with photon mapping and HSV mapping. Did some tests with it and it realy is a nice way to go (yes, Gonçalo, I'm finaly going photon style). But this is so much faster to set up.
    anyway...

    Hope you like them.

    Nice!
I guess you know what needs to be changed...
Avoid using linear cm for interiors, light overburns in your images are really letting them down

Apply a damn texture to those leaves
and there seems to be something wrong with the light coming from outside on the second image, can't see it behind the pillar but it looks like one of those windows is closed and it still isn't casting any shadow.
I guess a nice logarithmic exposure will fix all of that

Thanks for the comments, guys and a happy new year to you all.

You are so right with your comments. I should take some more time for these interiors, but these commissions are scarse lately and I never seem to have more then two days for this stuff.
Clients allways want direct sunlight when possible in images, hence the sunlight burning into the first image. linear mapping is a bitch, but since I used it a lot, it's a fast set-up. The plant is a different story, everytime I use it I remember to at least change the material on the leaves, but never come to doing it. As for texturing the leaves, the plant is a 3ds model without mapping coordinates for the leaves, so I don't even want to think about texturing that. Have to dive into TreeStorm and make some nice new indoor plants. The problem is that I hate indoor plants (I'm an architect, remenber). I inserted it at the last minute to balance the light on the sofa. I could've changed the sunangle ofcourse, but I was to lazy to do that.

Maybe in the fure when I get to do these more again....

            Hey Marc!,
I love the Poul Kjaerholm chaisse longue at the back!

You know you have nice leave textures that come with Tree Storm right?, talking about plants, I think rescaling a regular Tree Storm tree will do the trick... almost,,, I don't know wich physical correct plant you're gonna get but just try it..

The microwave & the oven look a bit flat, you've got to model it sooner or later

Yes, microwave and oven suck, but hardly anybody will notice. I've remodled most of the siematic allerady so I might as well remodel these too. For some reason meshes and materials mess up why I insert them. There's a real pain difference in the new version of Vray when using stuff materialised in older versions. specialy glass messes up big time.

If I have some time I'll install my newest Onyx tree suite 6 and fill the room with Bamboo
Probably won't have time because I have to finish two photomontages for another project and have to finish off an image of the courtyard on this project. Then on to the next three projects.

The settings? pretty simple, medium irradiance setting, couple off standard Vray lights with multiplier 5, some spotlights m=1 and falloff, linear color mapping, light=0.83 and dark=1.42
                Nothing more to it.

You've got Onyx Tree 6, cool!, I guess the amount of money needed for the update from version 4 wasn't that bad..

I'm curious if the new tree modeler/editor has improved..

Hey, nice work marc, I agree with the above critics, and I think you should check that "exaust" (is that the correct name in english?) above the oven, I think the chemeny is suppose to go all the way to the outside of the house, not ending in the living room, an architectural problem, not a 3d problem.

Here's a new one from the same house.
I'll be updating the other two interiors soon.

                      Needs some better filtering though.

I updated the original post with a newer version of the living room.

Don't know if I'm going to make a new version of the kitchen. I have to finish something like 13 images of this project on Friday. these 3 are the only interiors. The exteriors are nearly all finished, only 1 garden shot and 2 doll house images to do.
