most of these houses are summer retreats. They are used 3 weeks out of the year, so those kitchens, are never used.

We built a 40 million dollar house last year, that is one of his fifteen houses, and he stays there for a week per year. When we were building it, the wife wanted to come up for a weekend, but the 1/4 mile drive wasn't brick paved yet. The owner's wife had us put down an asphalt drive, which cost $60,000.00, for her weekend visit. When she left, after her weekend visit, we tore it up so we can put down the brick pavers. People will pay for the convenience, and they'll pay for piece of mind.

When you have money everyone makes money around you... Overpricing labor, materials, etc
If you don't want to deal with subcontractors just paying big bucks to the general contractor resolves your problems.

most of our clients are anonymous. I'm not sure if I could spend that absurd amount of money on myself, even if I could. Who know's maybe it's all relative.

I systematically aligned all the wood in the correct orientation . It wasn't easy, because I didn't model this, and it wasn't modeled to be texture mapped. I'll post an update in the morning.

I was showing someone my i-Pad's retina display, using this kitchen as an example and he said, "it looks surreal, almost like it's not real". It made my day, and after thinking about it, we are way to hard on our own work. For the average person, who most of the time is our clients, they don't have a clue. I think it's a good thing, but nothing to loose sleep over. I have worked images to death, until I though I reached something. When, in fact, they don't even notice. I guess, if you are like me, we do this for our own enjoyment.
