  • AXE 'Susan Glenn' gilded frames

Here's a project I did a few months ago for the print & online part of AXE deodorant's new 'Susan Glenn' campaign.

Our part of the project was comparitively small but still turned out to be a lot of work! Due to time constraints and the number of characters I had to rely on Daz Studio for the base meshes and posing for the figures before then tweaking and detailing them in Zbrush.

The original pass had more anatomical/muscle detail on the figures but I had to dial it back to meet the client's needs. Personally, I wish I could have created them all from scratch but sadly this just wasn't possible in the time I had. Likewise I wanted to add more detail to the bottom section of the frame but couldn't before the deadline.

In terms of materials and rendering there's not much exciting going on, v-ray dirt for the occlusion and a lot of tiling textures for the aged finish of the gold.

    Cheers!

Gorgeous stuff. The close ups are great.

That's a good candidate for the definition of "photo-realistic rendering"

That's amazing. I'd love to see how you go about creating something like that - our work is essentially all right angles!!

Thanks for the kinds words guys!

I dont know how interesting these are but here's some in-progress shots of a couple of the characters in Zbrush.

The guy on the left is from (and has been posed in) Daz, the guy on the right is the tweaked Zbrush version with the added hair & tunic.

Hair for the venus character was created using Zspheres because it was much faster than making a basemesh in Max and I like to limit jumping back and forth as much as I can

I had initially planned to sculpt all of the details on the frame 'properly' as though they had all been carved from one piece of wood however it quickly became apparent that the number of positional, scale and pose adjustments would make this impossible, so I did them all as separate pieces.
