I figured out I never posted my Tesla image here, so here it is:
VRay for rendering... thanks a lot for shademap because it made rendering with DOF so much faster. 3DS Max for modeling, PS for textures and ZBRush for sculpts

Image is dedicated to one of the most important inventors and geniuses of 20th century, Nikola Tesla.
My idea was to create simple illustration similar to old photos of Nikola next to the Tesla coil, but presented in a different, unique and funny way.

    Hope you like it!

I saw this one before. I think it was on CG Talk? Anyway, I loved it then and I love it now! It's a really great and indeed funny image

Very, very, very nice image. Love the little toolbox.

The only thing I noticed is that the electricity has a strong blue colour, but the light (and reflections) that falls on the character and near surroundings is mostly white. But really, that's nitpicking.

love it! stunning image! is the shade map shader dependant? do i need to re-render the scene for calculating the shademap when changing light / materials? and does it work for animations too? never used it yet..

Great concept and execution. I've seen this in a few places...one of them being 3d world magazine I think. Nice one !

                Thanks everybody for comments.

jonnybefree ... you need to rerender shademap every time you change something in light or shader.

Crayox13 ... the way I did color correction is by playing with contrast in R G B channels... try doing contrast only on R channel and you will see that you can get some really nice effects.
