  • looking for gemstones rendering?

Some time ago, somebody did a really cool rendering of several gemstones, all different colors. And I believe that person faked some kind of dispersion and wrote a tutorial describing the process. Does anyone know the whereabouts of this tutorial??

    Thanks!

Thanks Ray! Although that's not the exact one I had in mind, it's very good none the less, and the compositing process I think is similar to the one I'm thinking of.

Though if anyone else knows of this other image I'd still be interested. I seem to remember there being at least a dozen stones, rubies, diamonds, saffires, emeralds, etc. It was top notch.

        Thanks guys!

You can find my tutorial and files for vray dispersion using a shellac technique here:

          http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/elvis/dispersion.html

Not sure if this is exactly what you were asking for - the gemstones sound like someone else - but you could adapt my material for different colours.

Thanks anyway Vu, but that's not it. I may actually be doing some projects before long rendering jewelry and gemstones. I'm surprised I haven't been able to locate this one more easily. Usually impressive images stick around, ya know?

              Thanks guys!

                  Leobartz,
You can grab the material from www.osmosis.com.au >info>downloads
It was done with a much earlier version of VRay so not sure if it still works as it should.
