  • Short engineering animation

    Hi all.

We recently completed a short animated video showing how a new "Kinetic Energy Recovery System" (KERS) works.

A visual demonstration of the patented WestKERS energy recovery concept, developed by Conceptual Technologies Limited.

Is this similar to the concept of Formula One cars?
It reminds me a little bit of a jet engine

From my understanding, Formula One cars get their KERS only under braking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m87rUDWh1nY

Whereas this technology is more about harnessing fluids (including gases) to recover some energy. So who knows, maybe they will strap this technology to future F1 cars to generate KERS from the wind resistance as they drive!

very nice, clean and informative renders.
what system did you use for the gas (particles)

Nice, a lot of subtle tricks to create a very clear diagram.

Hi the fluid was pretty basic stuff. It's just PFlow particles following splines. I then generated animated splines from the particles using a script I found on scriptspot.
