    flap positions

    Hi there!

The plane seems to be turning left, but the flaps are not in the right possition fot this to happen. Check that out.

    Nice lightning

      Good point

This is from a while back so I've finished the rendering but with the motion blur you can hardly tell that I did eventually animate the flaps to the proper positions.

Thanks much for the input though

        sweet

        Nice!

Could you add a DOF over the background field?

I think (maybe I´m wrong) that the flap position should be the inverse of what you´ve got now.

Don´t forget to add the blur effect on the engines. that will give the final touch

First off, those arent the flaps, they are the aelerons. The flaps are the ones closer to the body, and secondly they are positioned correctly. By tilting dewn one creates more curvature to the top of the wing, which then creates a lower pressure on the top side of the wing "sucking" it upwards. This then is negated on the other wing to pull it down to make the craft roll to one side.
Anyway, nice renderings. All I'd do would be to add a heat plume behind the exhaust(sp?) in post. Render our a sleek, elongated bulb shaped object with a noise modifier and black/white falloff in its diffuse. Make it 50% transparent and make sure its 2 sided. Selfillumination values should be tweaked as needed. This can then be used as a displacement map in combustion or AE. There should be a plugin for AE that accepts normal data too, so you could render ir out as a normal map instead. (Bluring the layer is also often a good choice).

Wow, I'm surprised you guys can even see them They are positioned correctly, though the actual motion may not be as precise as it could be. I found a final test without the MB.

Thanks, I might try that if I get a chance to go back to this rendering before putting it to tape. I'm in the process of learning combustion and what you've described sounds like it would be a quick fix.

Wow! That's awesome. Thought it was a photo when I first opened the thread. Animation needs a little work, but rendering/modelling wise, pretty much spot on
