This was a job started by another collegue wich I had to finish, but the first image was'nt where I wanted to go with this piece, Its always touchy to overide the work of a collegue and propose to the client something different. There's plenty of discussion around about educating the client but in reallity not always simple. I had only a couple of hours to create this one and I came in the morning with an idea and very motivate to create something nice and moody.

At first I was very satisfied with what I came up with, but the client as his idea about the view he wanted to present it, so I had to revert to the previous view that was created by another person wich was guided by the client himself, I was'nt happy with it but at the end of the day its all about what the client want, I still think my choice of view is better (with all humility) and I think I've achieve some kind of feel and mood to it....Ill keep the nice version for myself!

So here's the first pics is what I had to start from....

the second is what I created and thought it was way better....

and the third one, is the one I had to revert to....

    c&c always welcome!

I don't like the 1st image. The grass and trees have too much of the same green tone. Some minor variation in the trees or leaves would have been nice to lift it a bit.

I dig the 2nd image, very nice. Nice feel. Only crit on this one is the top left foreground leaves seems a bit stiff, a bit "computery" if you know what I mean. I'm not a big fan of lense flares, but in this shot it looks nice.

3rd Image is overall nice, just something odd with the scale up top, maybe the door is too small or more likely the guy is too tall, or it's just a funny angle. The integration of the girl on the furniture is nice. Upper left corner looks like it's asking for something dark there to frame the pic a bit better. Maybe a darker branch just just coming into shot there? Maybe a little bit of the blue sky from the 1st image would have been nice in this shot.

All that being said, yes it's not ideal to take over a project from somebodey else halfway. Especially if that person has a totally different workflow, nevermind that the other person may also have had a different direction the image was going...

What sort of timeframe did you have for this?
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

Thank Morne for the comments, I know exactly what you mean, as for the time frame I created the images in 3-4 hours from where it was left..delete pretty much all of the vegetation, sky and light and redone the whole composition, tweak abit the textures and mat, the landscape, light and mood + all the post process..

For the third image I know what you mean and its definetly the weird angle that is not working, the cam is way to high but you can still see under the roof, It feels like a maquette, miniature...

For the time I had I really wanted to give a mood and feel and I was really disapointed when the client told me he wanted to go back to the previous view...

I dig the second image a lot, but the god rays coming from that lens flare are distracting. Otherwise the camera angle and foliage look great. I think you did the best you could when dealing with a client!

Thanks cheerioboy, god rays was in relation with the fog layer, tought it would had a bit of atmosphere to the scene, the thing missing I think is 2 cofee and some breakfast on the table to replace the bottle and glass of wine, it would fit perfectly the mood, I think....
