  • wip: day & night render

my latest work, its a waiting room, day and night version - any c&c are welcome

    looks comfy

however the night shot looks a bit strange imo, like the day shot has more contrast and feels "darker" at places" then the night shot
at nigh the room feels a bit too bright, just being lit by that single light, which doesnt look as powerful as the daylight sun

and the window of the door to next room seems a bit too bright as well

again I am no familiar with architect stuff and so on... but the day shot is somehow more real

It's got that "by the book" feel to it, there is nothing really wrong with it but it isn't anything that special either

I dont really like the mood in the day shot, somehow, i dont know, i dont really like that contrast much, the first thing that sticks out is the sky light on the ceiling i think its too bright compared to where sun is hitting the floor. Try moving your sun (probably direct light?) farther away because vray area shadows have this weird thing going on with them so they seem like they're being emmited from a point light instead of being parallel.

These were just my 2 cents, hope it helps!

I agree w/ the first two comments.....it's getting there.
I think the models need a bit more detail..the couch, the tends on the windows...maybe use Simcloth to simulate a more natural flow to them...
and desaturate the floor texture...I think it's way to distracting right now.....desaturate it and blur it a bit so that it fits in better.....

        it's a good start...

i guess that says it all, there is nothing special about it, i made this to improve my rendering, thanks for the comments, i think i'll give up on the night version and just render the day version.

it may be a minor point but...
if this is a waiting room you'd rather have armchairs, several of them, instead of a sofa.

people dont enjoy sitting close to each other on a public space

regarding the render i'd increase the bounces and decrease the light multipliers or use exponential color mapping to overcome that (kind of) disturbing contrast.
